Being in in a walkable neighborhood, they were with me in countless trips the grocery, library, barbershop, park, laundromat, bank, hardware store, restaurants, office, and (my favorite) when I would take a walk after dinner. As for special occasions, the first week of wear coincided with the first time my mom visited from the Philippines so I broke in the boots showing her around San Francisco. I was also fortunate enough to take the boots to Providence in the winter where my wife had a grad school residency. I manage the facility maintenance at multiple dog kennels, and over the past six months, these boots have been on a journey. I've worn these boots while installing chainlink fence, building retaining walls, trenching, digging up old gravel for fence repairs, replacing failed sump pumps during flash flooding, replacing a well pump, water heater, troubleshooting electrical gremlins in our appliances, roof repairs, soffit and gutter repair, months of landscaping and cleanup, framing walls while renovating our kennels, concrete crack repairs, installing new drywall, waterproofing and sealing kennels, painting, light metal fabrication and welding jobs, fleet vehicle maintenance, and a host of other things. When I wasn't at work, I liked wearing these for odd jobs around the house, taking my son to parks, hiking, trips to grocery stores, etc. There really weren't many times when I didn't wear these. They've been through dry and wet conditions, cold and hot, and any combination of them. They've hiked trails in seven states, been to airshows, museums, and have helped me with my photography along the way...."Read the full review

They have seen water, dirt, mud, sand, gravel, and hot concrete! Been through the last remaining 90 plus degree days in the Texas October. Been through single digit temps in the winter. Been through 3 days of straight rain in the spring.

I wore them on hikes, did hardwork in them and walked my dog every day in them. Rain, snow and ice, mud...it didn't even phase these things! This leather can take a beating that's for sure. Grant Stone made a real tough and comfortable boot with these! I'm constantly standing and walking on blacktop and the wedge soles held up great and were at home on that surface. I’ve traveled to Europe on these boots. Worked a handful of major art fairs and custom installation projects with these beauties. I’ve traveled the USA as well in them. Its been a pleasure to wear and break them in. It did take a little time and effort. I have a wide forefoot which takes a little time for the leather to conform. The soles have stood up fairly well considering how much walking I have done in them. Probably not quite ready for a resole. I did notice the speed hooks are pulling out so I’ll need a cobbler to repair the hooks...."Read the full review
