About

The 375 is a boot model produced by White's Boots using the company's traditional handsewn stitchdown construction methods. Designated as model 375-MV in the company's catalog, the boot features an eight-inch full grain water-resistant leather upper built on either the original 4811 Arch-Ease or 55 last options.

The 375 serves as the foundation for multiple White's boot styles, including Semi-Dress and Logger variations developed from Otto White's original 1930s designs. The boot maintains the company's signature construction techniques, featuring hand-welted assembly with leather midsoles and shanks, rebuildable construction, and lead times of 14-16 weeks for handsewn stitchdown models.

History

The 375 model traces its foundation to developments made by Otto White in 1930 on the 4811 last, forming the basis for what would later become the company's Smokejumper line. Otto White established the design framework during a period of innovation that included trademark development of the Arch-Ease system in 1926.

The Semi-Dress variation of the 375 was based on shorter Depression-era boots worn by store clerks and factory workers, designed to withstand the demanding week-in, week-out wear required during the 1930s. The Logger variation draws inspiration from toe-lace logger and lineman boots that Otto White introduced in the 1920s, popular with workmen due to their adjustability for different working conditions, foot swelling, and injuries.

These original designs established the 375 as part of White's heritage spanning from the company's 1853 founding to present production, maintaining construction techniques passed down from bootmaker to bootmaker across generations.

Specifications

The 375 features handsewn stitchdown construction involving more than 25 unique hand-crafted stages performed by master bootmakers. Each boot undergoes hand-lasting, hand-welting, and hand-bottoming processes, with the hand-welting stage using an awl and thread to stitch the vamp directly into the insole at three stitches per inch.

Construction includes an eight-inch full grain water-resistant leather upper with seven to eight-ounce leather thickness. The boot utilizes leather midsoles and shanks with no celastic toe construction, creating all-leather internal structure that supports White's Arch-Ease system. The classic Logger heel provides the traditional profile associated with White's work boot heritage.

The 375 is built on either the original 4811 Arch-Ease last or the 55 last, offering different fit characteristics while maintaining the high arch support system that defines White's footwear. The rebuildable and resoleable construction allows for long-term maintenance and restoration when needed.

Variations

The 375 model serves as the basis for several distinct variations within White's product line. The Semi-Dress version maintains a seven-inch height with the trademark sweeping logger heel, designed for both work and casual applications based on the original Depression-era worker boot concept.

The Logger variation features the lace-to-toe pattern that allows greater precision in fit adjustment, particularly valuable for workers dealing with varying foot conditions throughout demanding work shifts. This variation reflects the original 1920s design philosophy that prioritized functional adjustability.

Various leather options are available for the 375, including Horween Brown Waxed Flesh and Black Waxed Flesh leathers. These Horween leathers are produced using processes similar to the company's Chromexcel methods, providing premium material options for the handsewn construction. Different sole configurations include half comp and split commando options depending on the specific build requirements.

Availability

The 375 model is available through official White's Boots dealers and direct ordering from the company. Lead times for handsewn stitchdown models, including the 375, typically require 14-16 weeks due to the extensive hand-crafted construction process and the limited number of skilled bootmakers capable of performing the traditional techniques.

Baker's Boots serves as a flagship dealer for White's products, offering the 375 alongside other White's models with specialized fitting services. The extensive customization options available through White's Build a Boot system allow customers to specify last options, leather choices, sole configurations, and other details to create personalized versions of the 375 design.

The premium handsewn construction and made-in-America production contribute to the extended lead times, as each boot represents individual craftwork rather than mass production methods used in standard footwear manufacturing.
