The Fire Hybrid is a wildland firefighting boot manufactured by White's Boots in Spokane, Washington. Introduced after several years of testing against National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards, the Fire Hybrid represents what the company describes as the next evolution in fire boots designed for modern wildland firefighting. The boot bridges the gap between traditional logger-style fire boots and contemporary designs preferred by firefighters.
The Fire Hybrid features an 8-inch full grain water-resistant leather upper and is built using McKay Stitchdown construction. The boot incorporates a proprietary Fire & Ice White Dot Hybrid Sole by Vibram, designed specifically for harsh environments. White's Boots has served American forest workers for more than 80 years, with the company's history in wildland firefighting dating back to 1939 when Francis Lufkin wore Summer Loggers into the first smokejumper camp in Methow Valley, Washington.
The Fire Hybrid is hand-crafted using McKay Stitchdown construction at White's Boots' Spokane factory. The boot features a block heel with side hill traction for increased stability, along with cleats on the heel and toe for better incline support. Military grade 360 lugs are incorporated to keep the sole free of debris during use.
The boot is built on a 610 Last with a low arch, designed for an easier break-in period compared to traditional wildland fire boots. The model number is C295H and features an unstructured toe box design. The construction allows the boots to be rebuildable and resoleable, extending their service life.
The Fire Hybrid uses an 8-inch full grain water-resistant leather upper that absorbs high impact. The boot incorporates a leather midsole and shank for a custom fit and feel. Fire resistant Technora thread is used throughout the construction.
The sole system features Vibram's proprietary Fire & Ice White Dot Hybrid Sole, engineered for increased safety and security in harsh environments. The boot includes a high-performance Ortholite cushioned insert for comfort. The leather footbed is cushioned and removable, allowing it to be washed as needed.
The Fire Hybrid is NFPA certified, meeting the standards set by the National Fire Protection Association. White's Boots conducted several years of testing against these highest NFPA standards before introducing the model. The lugs on the boots have been certified by the National Fire Protection Agency and can be used on both wet and dry surfaces.
The certification ensures the boots meet stringent safety requirements for professional use in fire-prone environments and wildland firefighting applications.
The Fire Hybrid is available in Black and Distress Brown color options. Width options include D, E, and EE sizes. As of 2025, the retail price is $625.00.
The boots are made-to-order with approximately 12 to 14 week production lead times. White's Boots sizing typically runs large, with most customers selecting a half size down from their natural shoe size or Brannock measurement.
