History
The 350 Cruiser traces its origins to the period between World War I and World War II, when timber cruisers approached Otto White with a specific request for a lighter, less cumbersome version of their proven White's logger boots. Otto White, grandson of company founder Edward White, responded by redesigning the traditional uppers found on most work boots of the early 20th century, creating the distinctive 6-inch 350 pattern that would define the Cruiser.

Construction
The Stitchdown Cruiser exemplifies traditional American bootmaking through its use of stitchdown construction, one of the oldest shoemaking methods dating back approximately 600 years to Scandinavia. This technique involves stitching the upper material flat onto an outsole, creating superior waterproofing compared to other construction methods and making the boots highly durable with the option for resoling.
Hand-sewn stitchdown construction
The premium version of the Cruiser uses hand-sewn stitchdown construction, involving more than 25 unique stages performed entirely by hand. During the hand-welting process, craftsmen use an awl and thread to stitch the vamp directly into the boot's insole at three stitches per inch, eliminating the need for canvas welt strips used in Goodyear welt construction or glue used in other stitchdown methods. This creates the most durable construction type available and makes the boots entirely rebuildable.
Standard stitchdown construction
The C350 models utilize standard stitchdown construction that offers many of the benefits of hand-sewn methods while reducing production time. These boots are still hand-lasted and hand-bottomed, but the liner is glued to the insole bottom, and the vamp is turned out and machine-stitched together with the midsole and bottom. This construction method provides a more secure fit than Goodyear welted boots while maintaining durability and resolability.

Original 350 Cruiser
The flagship model features handsewn stitchdown construction with a retail price of $750. Built on the 55 Arch-Easeâ„¢ Last with medium arch support, the boot stands 6 inches in height and carries the model designation 350-C. The construction includes a full-grain water-resistant leather upper, leather midsole and shank, and Vibram composition sole with logger heel. Production requires 14-16 weeks due to the extensive handcrafted process.
C350 Cruiser
The standard stitchdown version retails for $640 and offers the same fundamental design with machine-assisted construction elements. Available in seven leather color options including Brown Double Shot, British Tan Double Shot, Black Double Shot, Burgundy Double Shot, Natural Double Shot, Distress Roughout, and Brown Roughout. The boot is offered in sizes 7-13 in both D and EE widths, with White's recommending customers size down half a size from their natural shoe size.
Both models feature the 55 Arch-Easeâ„¢ Last, which provides moderate arch support in a comfortable high-heeled logger boot design. The last offers an elegantly rounded and roomier toe box with an accommodating forefoot, combined with a moderate profile that fits a wide variety of foot shapes from D to EE widths.
