C.F. Stead Dark Oak Roughout

Dark oak roughout features the same flesh-out construction as the standard Roughout line, with the flesh side of the hide serving as the outer surface while the grain side faces inward. The leather is oiled and waxed, creating a heavier-weight leather with a soft, forgiving characteristic. The dark oak color develops a dynamic patina over time and requires minimal care due to its protective treatments.

Dark oak roughout is a true roughout article, meaning it is full-grain leather turned inside out with the flesh side used for the surface. The leather combines heavier weight construction with soft, supple handling characteristics. As a reverse suede, the leather retains the full grain layer on the interior while presenting the corium layer on the exterior, creating the characteristic rough texture.

The leather receives both oiled and waxed treatments during processing, providing water resistance and protective qualities. The dark oak variant features a natural full grain on the reverse side, with the rough, casual suede texture characteristic of Roughout leather from Charles F. Stead.

Dark oak roughout can be brushed and re-waxed to restore its original appearance after periods of heavy wear. The oiled and waxed finish provides inherent protection, making the leather require minimal regular maintenance. The protective treatments allow the leather to develop patina naturally while maintaining its structural integrity and appearance over extended use.
