Conceria Cloe Burgundy Horsebutt is a vegetable-tanned horse leather produced by Conceria Cloe in burgundy color. The leather is made from European raw horse hides and tanned in Ponte a Égola, Toscana, Italy using slow vegetable tanning in pits.[1] This leather combines the distinctive characteristics of Conceria Cloe Horsebutt with the deep burgundy color option introduced for the Superlux horserump leather line.[2]
The leather features the soft temper and subtle grain variation characteristic of Conceria Cloe's horse leather production, with a dry, matte touch and high oil content that makes it prone to developing patina over time.[1] As a specialty color offering in Conceria Cloe's horsebutt range, burgundy provides heritage footwear makers with an alternative to more common natural and black finishes.
Conceria Cloe Burgundy Horsebutt exhibits the physical properties typical of the tannery's vegetable-tanned horse leather production. The leather has a very soft temper with subtle grain variation and a dry, matte touch.[1] The high oil content contributes to the leather's tendency to develop a lustrous patina with an almost metallic sheen over time.[1]
The leather is cut from the hind section of the horse hide, positioned above the shell cordovan layer, which contributes to its dense fiber structure.[1] This positioning within the hide provides strength while maintaining the soft, stretchy, and gummy texture that characterizes Conceria Cloe's horsebutt offerings.[1] The grain pattern shows high irregularity with significant variation across different areas of each hide.[1]
Sagara Bootmaker offers the burgundy color option in their Cordmaster boot model using Cloe Horserump Superlux leather.[2] The Cordmaster configuration features a Morgan Last with structured toe box, 270º Norwegian Storm Welt construction, and #1081 Cork Full Sole, with pricing at approximately $340 USD (Rp 5,400,000 IDR).[2] As of the product listing, Sagara had not yet produced sample boots in the burgundy color.[2]
Conceria Cloe's burgundy horsebutt is part of a limited color range expansion that also includes black, representing new options for the Superlux horserump leather line.[2] The leather is available through leather goods suppliers and has been used for various applications including belts and accessories.[4]
