The Patriot is a work boot model manufactured by Frank's Boots and introduced as the company's entry-level offering in the Pacific Northwest boot category. The boot was designed for wildland firefighters, construction workers, mechanics, warehouse workers, ranchers, and farmers seeking durable footwear at a fair price point. Frank's created The Patriot using the same materials and construction methods as their flagship Type 1 Commander model while positioning it at approximately 60% of the Commander's cost.
The boot features a 10-inch height, is built on Frank's 55 last with a high arch, and uses 7.5 to 8-ounce full grain water-resistant Seidel leather with a Vibram Fire and Ice lug sole. The Patriot can be resoled but cannot be rebuilt by Frank's Boots.
The Patriot uses 7.5 to 8-ounce full grain water-resistant Seidel leather, the same specification used in Frank's Type 1 Commander model. The leather for The Patriot comes from a different section of the hide compared to higher-end Frank's models, selected specifically for increased flexibility to reduce break-in time. The boot omits the pull loop found on other Frank's models.
The sole measures 3/4-inch thick and is designed for flexibility while maintaining durability. Standard models feature a Vibram Fire and Ice lug sole in WhiteX compound. The boot includes a logger heel and brass hooks and eyes for hardware.
The Patriot is built on Frank's 55 last, which features a high arch designed to balance body weight and provide comfort during extended wear. Due to the pronounced arch, Frank's recommends customers order one full size down from their natural shoe size or use their sitting Brannock measurement, as the arch support effectively shortens the foot length inside the boot.
For customers transitioning from other Pacific Northwest boot lasts, the sizing follows established conversion patterns. Wearers of Maxon Boots or White's 4811 last can order the same size in The Patriot's 55 last. Customers wearing Frank's, Nick's, or White's boots on the HNW last should maintain the same length but increase width by one designation. Those wearing Frank's 1977 or Nick's 11067 lasts should increase by half a size while keeping the same width.
The Patriot is offered in Black or Walnut leather, with options for smooth over roughout or all roughout in Chocolate. The standard configuration features a 10-inch shaft height with a #3 toe shape. Customers can order The Patriot with safety toe protection as the Patriot ST variant, which requires a 12 to 16 week lead time and can only be produced in specified size and width combinations. Limited additional customizations are available beyond the safety toe option.
As of 2025, The Patriot is priced at $379.95 for standard builds. Custom orders require a 12 to 16 week lead time for handcrafting. If a customer has not previously worn a 55 last or comparable Pacific Northwest boot, Frank's requires completion of their fit sheet process, which adds 10 to 16 weeks to the lead time depending on backlog.
The Patriot can be resoled but differs from Frank's higher-tier models in that it cannot be rebuilt. This design decision contributes to the boot's lower price point while maintaining the ability for standard sole replacement to extend the boot's usable life.
