The SC2078 typically features two-row hand-stitchdown construction as its standard building method. Handwelted-Goodyear construction is also available as an option. The boot can be specified with either 270-degree or 360-degree welt coverage depending on customer preference and construction method selected.

For midsole configuration, the SC2078 offers either single-layer or double-layer leather midsole construction. The handwelted-Goodyear option includes storm welt construction with 360-degree coverage and uses a two-layer leather midsole for added structure and durability.

The SC2078 can be built on three different lasts, each providing distinct fit characteristics. The SC Last serves as the most popular option, offering an "original rugged-ish look" with true-to-size proportions. This last features width options in D, E, and EE measurements, a medium-high instep and arch, and a toe box profile that balances boldness with a pointed shape.

The SC-X Last represents an enhanced version with a more slender profile in both the front and heel counter areas. This last prioritizes a snug, secure fit designed to minimize heel slippage while maintaining comfort throughout wear.

The NH Last provides an almond-shaped toe box design and runs true-to-size. This last option receives recommendations for wearers with wide feet, offering fuller accommodation across the forefoot.

The SC2078 accommodates a wide range of leather options spanning multiple tanneries and finish types. Shell cordovan sourced from Italy represents the premium leather option. Full-grain leathers include offerings from Badalassi in Italy, with their Minerva Smooth line available in cognac colorways. Various roughout leathers designated as RO appear in multiple colors including waxed flesh in cooper brown and dark brown, tan, and green variations. Additional leather options include CH Black and full-grain black.

Brazilian leather provides the material for leather outsoles and heel stacks when specified. Lambskin leather serves as the standard lining material, offered in both full-lining and partial-lining configurations depending on the specific build.

The SC2078 uses different eyelet and hardware finishes to complement various leather choices. Gunmetal eyelets pair with roughout and certain full-grain leathers, while antique brass and standard brass finishes accommodate other leather selections. Speed hooks, typically configured as two or three hooks at the upper portion of the boot shaft, provide quick lacing convenience.

Toe box construction offers both structured and unstructured options. The structured toe box maintains its shape through wear and provides protection, while the unstructured option allows for a more casual, broken-in appearance that conforms to foot movement.
