I live in an apartment, working from home, and the times I go out are sometimes quick and on the fly with my dog. I wanted a Chelsea or another pull on, and I went with the black CXL because I thought it could work in a ton of outfits. I’m also a sucker for a less dressy Chelsea, and this was right up my alley.
I had other Lofgren pairs that all fit a tad small, so I went up a half size from there.
Standard and Strange is elite, online ordering from them is basically my go to at this point.
I’ve worn them in pretty much any condition you can think of. Visits to our home office, traveling on a plane, in the snowstorms here in Michigan, to football games, etc. No exceptions.
It’s been great, I love the brown peaking through, the leather itself has creased pretty much to my liking, and is soft and supple. I probably could have conditioned it once or twice more than I did, but I still think the leather has held up considerably. I probably went 2 months between conditions, which involved cleaning the boot thoroughly, then just applying some shoe cream. I did brush much more often than that, probably once a week casually, often during calls when I was off camera. I don’t really have a specific break in process, I just wear them immediately and suffer the consequences.
I’m a big fan, it’s wide but not too wide, doesn’t squeeze my feet and allows for thicker socks. The toe area is my favorite among all my boots, enough room there, but not enough to where I feel like I’m swimming in the boots.
I have zero issues with anything on the boots. My one small complaint was that it felt like the leather had bad creasing almost immediately, but I got over it as I wore them more.
I love the sole on these. I think it’s the same or at least similar to the sole on Iron Rangers, which were my first pair I ever wore. The soles held up really well and I didn’t slip too much on ice, which is a plus.
