John Lofgren Bootmaker
Wabash Engineer Boots
Standard & Strange
Availability: Custom
I had a chance to do a custom pair with John Lofgren, and I wanted to make sure I made sometime unique, yet not over the top, that would age gracefully. I love how The Real McCoys used contrast brown stitching on their black Buco jackets, so I went with that. Edges were left black so they would scuff to brown. White outsole stitching was used to make ‘em pop, and give visual shape in the absence of the usual Lofgren storm welt. Finally, Shinki Oiled horsebutt was a leather I couldn’t resist.
Wide because I’m a wide boy
Hard daily wear. Hanging out with a toddler, mowing grass, dad shit
Broke in easily and quickly. I love the wrinkles, but I’m not entirely impressed. I prefer horsebutt from other tanneries, although shinki horsefront is still unmatched in. The oiled horsebutt is just a bit too finicky.
Excellent. Top of the line for factory made boots
Nearly indestructible, but somehow still someone soft and comfy
