Brown waxed flesh is great leather, but not to show patina in a 6 month competition reflecting wear. Also, I wouldn't recommend this boot with a side zipper. Not practical or useful. I love these boots but need to unlace and lace up regardless of the side zipper. The competition is challenging to get as much normal wear out of your shoes and reflect the amazing leather patina they take on. I think everyone sharing their journey was the best part. Great people, great footwear, great competition for anyone to participate in ... I will again!See background

Real good. But hindsight for me, the 55 probably is my favorite. The 67 maybe a little too much contour change on my foot. I found they wear better with a very thin nonslip insole. Heel cup great, toe box a little too roomy.

I didn't shy away from rain, snow, mud, or anything. I just put them on and went out, and they took everything I could throw at them.
I even wore them through the airport and on the plane.
I did a lot of walking in these boots. They are, in fact, the most comfortable boots I have for walking. 8-10 miles in a day was no problem at all.
After they broke in some I had no trouble squatting or kneeling in them, though after a while of squatting, it does feel tight across the instep. But that's true for any boots.
Standing on ladders was never a problem, climbing skinny scaffold and tower ladders was never a problem. I never felt unsure of my footing.
I travel a lot, so I wore them in cold, wet, hot, dry, every condition from Florida to West Texas, to Seattle, to Brooklyn, to Missouri and everywhere in between. I never had any issues with wet feet or discomfort...."Read the full review

The recent very cold weather in Washington want great, but I didn't really feel like I needed insulation. Standing outside in 30degree weather for six hours wasn't entirely unpleasant. I wonder if the lace to toe double vamp helped with that.
