I do this for me

I use my boots daily during the dome - I don't skip a day. This year was lower key. I spent most of my days working from home and as a dad to young kids, if I'm not at my desk I'm driving someone around to something. They bay area didn't get a lot of rain so most of my days were dry but someone's got to walk the dog if it's raining and that on me.

I wouldn't be the first to talk about how special this leather is. The roughout side especially takes a beating and still looks good. I had clay sludge splashed on them by somebody's clay experiment and more than once were my boots used as a boost when I got a hug. No matter what I threw at it this leather was soft, supple and looked good no matter what happened. I love the idea of developing bald spot as time goes on.

After wearing Munson style boots for a while the pointier western shaped last was new to me. I definitely noticed my toes were closer together but never hurt. The way however that my foot settled into the footed was the nicest part. Waiting for that moment when the break in is aver and they start to feel like sox one of my favorite partsbn

You can tell these are más produced but even then Red Wing has the formula right. Nothing has fallen apart and nothing will for a while. The heel is a little twisted as its mounted but it's not lose or not viable from far. The stitching on the outsole is a little bit different on each pair but only I can tell because I'm the only one with my nose right up to the boot. It's a great boot and for the price it really is a great deal.

As I've been reflecting as this dome ends I realize that this one is for me. As a parent trying to keep up with it all there are few things that I get to do that are only for me. At first I joined the dome becuase I found a pair that I thought would perform well and they did to me but they didn't place. I was disappointed as many are. But stopping at the beginning my day to put on one of my dome pairs was a moment to stop and appreciate something I liked. Getting to take a puse in the day to think about how much I like my boots is a gift to myself. Taking these small moments to be present is hard outside of the dome season for me and makes this time of year a pleasure. I'll be part of the next dome but won't double dome. I have too many pairs now that I care about and don't want neglect. I can't wait for the next dome and look forward to next the moments when I can stop again to take a brief moment for myself.
