I love the Muleskinner leather. My pair of Iron Rangers in the Muleskinner have patina’d beautifully and that is the main reason I chose these boots. I love roughout leather and cowboy boots so for me, these are perfect.
I just went with the size I get all my boots in, I have another pair of cowboy boots in a 10.5D which move too much on my feet and I figured with an E width I can probably get away with getting a size 10. No advice was given, and I’m happy with my choice.
Pleasant. I paid for overnight shipping and received them in 2 days.
I used my Pecos for literally everything, from walking to riding my bicycle or motorcycle or even teaching kickboxing classes. There was not a time where I went outside and was not wearing them. Did a few hikes in them, did some outdoor work in them, sewn clothes in them, used them for work. In my area we have experienced some snow, lots of rain and some pretty hot days.
It has picked up so much indigo and wear from my motorcycle I think it is absolutely beautiful. The break in was not bad at all, they were pretty tight when I first got them and after less than a week they were basically a sock for me. As for care? None. No brushes, no mink oil, nada. Played around in the snow and rain in these and I’ll consider that my cleaning haha. The leather is holding up very well despite my lack of care and I’m excited TO care for them after this, I’ve dropped things on them, got them scratched up and rode my motorcycle in them and the leather still looks like I don’t even really wear them!
The fit and comfort are great, I’m really glad these came in an E width since I’m a kickboxer I’ve got some pretty jacked up feet and these are super comfortable. I went to disneyland back in November and I wore these for 4 days, 10 hours a day on my feet, I wear them during my 12 hours work shifts, and not once have I had any comfort issues let alone ANY issues in these. Not as much arch support as I might hope but still, no issue.
Everything about this boot is amazing. I love the design, the toe shape is phenomenal. Construction, seems minimalist but simple is always perfect for me. I think Redwing nailed it with this boot and I hope they make another Pecos with the klondike leather or something really cool because the fit and design of this boot is timeless to me.
The sole is great, I’ve played outdoor basketball in these, done kickboxing, rode my bikes and the sole is still great. Traction is honestly pretty good in the rain and on “slick” warehouse floors. Very durable sole.
I really like the low heel, since there is not much of arch support, I think the low heel makes up for that. Keeps me “grounded” if that makes any sense.
Would definitely recommend this boot to anyone. I put this boot through the ringer these last 6 months and they are still as good as new. Can’t beat hawthorne leather.
