The past half a year saw travel to a fair number of places and this, a wide range of climates. Based in Singapore, humidity and heat are a constant but travels have taken me to beaches of Cebu earlier this year, snow of Kyushu in the dead of winter and wonderful coast of Perth at the end of 2025. Safe to say the Trickers definitely held up and saw the beauty this world has to offer. Note: The midway mark saw a touch up with Saphir products since the dry winter wind in Japan was merciless. Perhaps the patina would have been more prominent without this but I’m more keen on protecting the leather than high contrast patina for the sake of it.
As someone with small feet, finding the right footwear is often hard in the menswear space. However, when brands make ladies models it opens up a whole new avenue for shopping and that’s exactly what this is. Nevertheless, I’m still a man, and thus foot proportions will inevitably have a more ‘manly’ trait, mine being the volume of my instep. This is often a pressure point amongst many shoes and this was no different at the start. A long weekend getaway later however, the boots definitely started to shape and mould to my feet, stretching where needed and the leather permitted. While that portion was taken directly from the fit section, I thought it relevant to share given it’s also a result of the quality of leather used by Trickers. Aesthetically, I love how the leather has shown depth in patina over the different wear zones, much like how denim fades at different rates depending on the part of the jeans exposed. The ankle section sees far different wear and patina from the toe box, all while holding up to snow, rain and shine. Nothing affecting the integrity of the boots and still plenty of life left in them!

They became an absolute joy to lace up daily to the point that I’m now torn between continuing to wear them for the immense comfort and support, or go back to leather loafers for the convenience (tough life choices)!
The overall build of these are amazing right out of the Trickers factory. Stitching, leather and concept are what you’d come to expect from a heritage British brand. The only 2 things I’d like to comment on for improvement were the inner part of the lace eyelets where they flare out to secure the eyelet to the upper and the lining connecting to the pull-tab. The former left much to be desired as I wore through a pair of laces every month due to a couple of rough and sharp sections that aggressively ate into the laces. Initially I assumed it was because I used sub-par laces but having changed leather types, back to fabric, and across different brands I had as spares, I soon realized it couldn’t have been the laces and went to inspect the boots. Alas, I could have saved several pairs of laces if I noticed the problem sooner. A quick fix with pliers made it so that the final few months only saw a single pair of laces, and rightly so. The final point is perhaps more minor given the high wear point and thinness of the lining leather for comfort but one point to note is that I’m a firm believer and user of pull tabs (why add them if they aren’t gonna be used am I right?), however the section joining the tab to the inner lining tore relatively quickly. The tab is still structurally fine but just something to note if you’re a big user of pull-tabs as well.
Fantastic - perfect balance of grip, hardiness and looks! Added them knowing that these boots would be lived in for half a year. The all leather soles would never have lasted the mileage - best decision ever! Never slipped once having travelled across all seasons from Perth to Saigon to Tokyo. Plus, they add some ruggedness to the otherwise relatively sleek leather soled country brogue. Couldn’t be happier.

Would 100% recommend all guys who happen to have small feet like myself to look at Trickers and other brands who offer extended sizing or ladies models to get the best shoe for their feet. Growing up I’d often be stuck wearing shoes too big for me as most sizes start from a US7, or EU40 give or take. However, I’m a firm EU38 and thus most shoes run far too large for my feet. No surprise that brands offering extended sizing are my favourites but of course, these may not always be the most wallet-friendly option as they’d need to be purchased at full price. For us with smaller feet and on a tighter budget out there, I’d recommend looking at brands that offer ladies sizing or models as some of these may even fit our dainty feet better than men’s! These models tend to be a tad cheaper then their mens counterparts and go on sale more often due to the lack of demand for those sizes. Of course, this limits the options available but hey, I’m all about finding the best value out there for quality items and helping brands clear their inventory! Factory seconds, b-stock and the like are great places to shop for these odd sizes and some brands even put out special sale prices for the very small and very big sizes for us less than normal folk (I’m definitely not complaining). All in all, very happy Trickers offered these and whilst not the cheapest, offer great value out there when purchased under the right conditions.
