They hold up to moisture and heavy dog feet (whom tend to stand right on your metatarsal when on walks). I wore these 3 days straight and only had discomfort on my right (wider) foot where the sock liner ended as the leather was beginning to stretch. The ankles feel great and very few issues were noticed. I did spill some mopwatter on the right boot and didnt notice any issues as it dried.
General brushing every other day and a quick wipe off of any sticky liquids during bar service occurs...."Read the full review

Half of my wardrobe has bleach stians, but these boots dont show any signs of chemical damage. I love not haveing to baby this boot, its going to hold up to almost anything I have to do in them. A thick leather dose take time to break-in and you can see the toes starting to curl a bit. A little bit of brushing and a damp cloth to get rid of any residue is all it needs...."Read the full review

There is an extra bit of insurance doing construction in such a tough boots. I mean really they are absolute tanks, but it is not just the security and durability that has me enamored with these boots. It’s also been a treat to see the light tan color slowly become an almost burnt looking light brown. I think that’s why we’re all in this community right? To see the scuffs and beautiful patina come in as we go through our daily lives tackling work head on. I must say the first couple of weeks wearing them was a jarring and brutal break in period, (perhaps because this is my first pair of nicks) but as they’ve slowly broken in overtime I’ve reached that coveted point in the boots life where they’ve become an extension of my body. The leather has become softer and more supple to the touch and I must say I am not just satisfied but according to my girlfriend, “absolutely obsessed” with my nicks boots!..."Read the full review

I've seen DocLineman's model and understand just how much abrasion it can take. I don't climb trees but my 80lb dog will land her feet on mine every time we are outside and even her paws haven't worn down the leather much. At first, it had a nice uniform tone to it, almost black looking in the darker months. As it aged and broke in I saw how it was slowly showing the brown underneath. I didn't baby this leather and it's holding up well.
Brushing every week, a damp rag to get rid of sticky residue when needed. No soap or conditioner (yet)...."Read the full review

Nicks Robert in Seidel 1964 Brown SmoothBy Monkley • April 1, 2024"The only break in issue I had was on my ankle on the left boot. I suspect it was related to where an eyelet sat relative to my foot and not related to the leather. It has since gone away.
The leather has held up well. There's some staining, but I think any brown boot will experience that with my usage. Even the rough chemical burn spot on the toe has plenty of juice left - no sign foreseeable failure.
Care was a light coat of Venetian (shoe cream or leather balm, I forget) to add a little wax at the start. This was in hopes of delaying or preventing chemical spotting.
Any dry spots throughout I would use bick4 or Smith's leather balm to spot condition.
The one harsh chemical burn was moisturized after scraping off the burnt top layer with Smith's, then some wear and another spot of Smith's followed by tokonole to try and seal it...."Read the full review
