Solovair is a British footwear brand located in Wollaston, Northamptonshire, and was established in 1881. The company produces boots and shoes using the Goodyear welt construction method.
A group of five men formed the Northamptonshire Productive Society (NPS) in Wollaston, Northamptonshire in 1881 to produce footwear. The society created the "Solovair" brand in 1959 by combining the words "Sole-of-Air" to reflect its air-cushioned sole design. From 1960 to 1995, NPS produced boots for Dr. Martens under a licensing agreement, incorporating Solovair sole technology. After the license expired, NPS continued to manufacture footwear under the Solovair brand name.
Solovair manufactures its footwear in Wollaston, Northamptonshire, England. The factory employs traditional shoemaking methods including the Goodyear-welting technique.
Solovair shoes and boots are made using the Goodyear welted construction, which stitches together the upper leather, welt, and sole. The footwear features air-cushioned soles and uses leathers from selected tanneries.
Solovair produces a variety of boots, shoes, and loafers. The 8-eyelet Derby boot and the 3-eyelet Gibson shoe are among its models. The brand offers products in a range of styles and colors.
