Stockman

First developed during White's Boots' expansion into specialized work footwear, the Stockman represents the company's commitment to handcrafted construction methods that date back to 1853. The boot is made-to-order with a 12 to 14 week production time, reflecting the traditional manufacturing processes used in White's Spokane, Washington facility.

The Stockman uses stitchdown construction, involving over 25 unique hand stages performed by master bootmakers. During this process, each boot is hand-lasted and hand-bottomed, with the liner glued down to the bottom of the insole before the vamp is turned out and machine-stitched to the midsole and sole assembly.

The boot features a full grain water-resistant leather upper with a full tongue design, supported by a leather midsole and leather shank system that provides structural integrity and allows the boot to mold to the wearer's foot over time. The sole assembly consists of a Mini Vibram® outsole paired with a modified cowboy heel design, creating what the company calls a "low Packer heel" suitable for work applications.

Construction follows White's rebuildable and resoleable philosophy, allowing for complete restoration when the sole wears through. This approach extends the boot's lifespan significantly while maintaining the original fit characteristics established during the break-in period.

The Stockman typically requires sizing down from standard shoe measurements, with most customers ordering a half size smaller than their normal shoe size. The boot is available in D and EE width options, with sizes ranging from 7 to 13 to accommodate different foot dimensions.

The 55 Arch-Ease™ Last provides medium arch support designed to cradle the foot in its natural position. This system, first trademarked by White's Boots in 1926, creates a distinctive fit that requires a break-in period as the leather softens and conforms to the wearer's foot shape.

Available color options include Brown, Brown Distress, Black, and Red Dog, providing choices for both work and casual applications. As a made-to-order product, production time averages 12 to 14 weeks from order placement, reflecting the handcrafted nature of the construction process.

The Stockman emerged from White's Boots' long history of serving workers in demanding environments, building on techniques developed since the company's founding by Edwin White in the Shenandoah Valley during the Civil War era. The company's relocation to Spokane, Washington in 1890 positioned it to serve the expanding logging and mining industries of the Pacific Northwest.

The boot incorporates the Arch-Ease™ technology trademarked in 1926 by Otto White, who remained actively involved in factory operations until 1972. This arch support system became central to White's identity and distinguishes their boots from conventional work footwear designs.

The integration of Vibram sole technology, introduced by White's Boots in 1963, marked a significant evolution in the Stockman's design. The Mini Vibram® sole provides improved traction and durability compared to traditional leather sole construction while maintaining the boot's work-oriented character.
