By Yellowfin2na • April 2, 2026"To be honest I was not expecting the Predator Orange to turn into Predator Purple or in some lighting, almost black. The color change from the bottom of the boot to the top is absolutely shocking. I am not really sure what specifically caused them to become so dark, but I suspect the heavy exposure to salt spray and mud may have contributed. I was an obsessive brusher. Every other day the boots were brushed. I used nicks wax a couple of times after the boots had dryed out from being completely soaked during some rain storms...."Read the full review

I brush them after every wear with a horsehair brush, especially working in dusty conditions, and use Bick 4 about once a month. The biggest change in the leather happened within the first month, it was the most noticeable shift in color and character. In the last month they picked up a few more scrapes from granite spalls after being at a rock camp..."Read the full review

By DocLineman • April 2, 2026"To my surprise the evolution of patina with an upper in PO that wasn’t lasted has a naturally darker note, which only got darker with wear. The flexibility of the PO has been extremely comfortable for a 15” pull on. The uppers have loosened up in about 2 month to the point that it was almost like walking in a sneaker. I brushed them after every wear and if they were caked in debris I would rinse them clean, wipe the off and let them dry. The breathe ability is mind blowing as my feet were rarely hot or cold even in sub zero temps, standing in or on inches of snow and ice...."Read the full review

By ImaGoat • April 6, 2024"The leather darkened up and took a shine simply from brushing. I brushed every day after work with a nylon brush followed by a horsehair brush. I conditioned them entirely once with Smith's leather balm and a couple touch ups and some conditioning on the inside with Smith's and or obenaufs grease. The biggest issue with the break in was around the top edge around my ankle. That caused some pain for quite a while but finally subsided around a couple months or so. Otherwise, it wasn't too difficult although the footbed did take a while to mould...."Read the full review
