They Live Up to the Hype

The recent very cold weather in Washington want great, but I didn't really feel like I needed insulation. Standing outside in 30degree weather for six hours wasn't entirely unpleasant. I wonder if the lace to toe double vamp helped with that.

I did travel to Nevada for a few days though! 😆 Most of my boot wearing is done at work as a delivery driver. On the weekends I may go on a hike or kick around town doing chores and such. This pair has been a fine companion on my daily grind in the PNW.
We had a mild winter here in Portland. No snow or ice...just rain. 🫠
I'd say most of their days have been spent in SE Portland in the neighborhoods between the waterfront and SE 82nd ave. Typical urban environment with some excursions to the surrounding suburbs and a few days at the Oregon coast.
My work requires retrieving/organizing parcels in the back of the truck so some wear is acquired behind the bulkhead door.
Sidewalks, asphalt, stepping stones, concrete, gravel, grass, mud, dirt, steps, ramps, wooden decks, moss covered decks 💀, stone, and every other surface imaginable in a PNW neighborhood...these boots have been on.
The last two Thunderdomes I competed in the work category, but this year I wanted to run in the Open. I felt like the style of boot lent itself more to the Open category and wanted to rub shoulders with some patina legends!
I want to be forthright about how I wore this pair and be sure the judges know I wore these at work as well as in my off time...."Read the full review

Living in Scotland we have excessively wet weather especially during the winter, acidic peat bogs, and general muck. These boots have been champions through it all with no fuss, and only a handful of quick brushings to keep the dirt off.
They broke in quick, especially after a week when I took them rocket engine testing during a rather stormy week in the Scottish highlands. They also spent a few weeks glued to my feet doing DIY after we bought our first home...."Read the full review

That's the assignment for the Patina Thunderdome, and these boots have not had a day off — and after several years of doing this, I know how to put a pair through its paces. Fall yard work, snow shoveling and blowing, house projects — adding basement access panels, drainage trenching, the unglamorous stuff that actually tests a boot. The Farmer Rancher isn't cosplaying (like I am) as a work boot — it is one. They traveled with me across Oregon, Missouri, and Arkansas, and even made it to London to see some of their more refined cousins. Through all of it — the slush-soaked Minneapolis sidewalks, the transatlantic miles, the mud and the muck — they showed up every single day without complaint. I’m a huge hunter so I’ve walked through the woods in search of sheds, and locating best the hunting locations. Living on a 400 acre farm also comes with its own challenges and work. From bailing hay, loading wagons, working on equipment to land management. These boots face challenges on all levels yet have cleaned up beautiful enough to wear to church...."Read the full review

I tried to wear them hard especially during the second half of the dome. These boots were worn on a ton of hikes through the Georgia mountains. Wore them to help my friend move a piano down three flights of ice covered stairs (do not recommend with leather soles). They also saw their fair share of skating. Managed to land a few kickflips, Ollie down some stairs, but sadly did not land the elusive tre flip. Overall fantastic boots...."Read the full review

From sand dunes to snow to soggy terrain to hiking trails to crossing streams, these boots have been reliable. I've worn them anywhere from a couple times a week to everyday, for an hour or two to 12 hr days. I wore them while traveling for 28 hr stretches twice. They were comfortable and supportive, and not restrictive while traveling. I'm not one to take my shoes off on the road or in the air. I wore them in 90° plus weather, helping my daughter and son inlaw rebuild their porch and a few other home projects. They were fantastic as work boots.
