Got lucky and stumbled upon these new old stock irish setters from the 80's, had to have them.
I actually wore a12D for 3 months I bought new from Redwing until I started to feel the welt under my toe which hurt instantly. Returned them for 13D, just found my size then discovered these.
Great, it's a rush bidding on items. People come in at the last second.
Carpentry work and adventuring. They are rare boots so I haven't worn on demo days but pushed them plenty. I feel like I could wear these in any situation, how well they fit plays a part in that.
Love the patina on these, and the break in was smooth, comfortable at the start and getting more so day by day. I religiously brush them before every wear. Washed off grime with just water and rag a few times. Used Redwing's boot oil at first and hadn't added anything until just recently. Saddle soap and two coats of huberd's hid all the cuts and scratches.
They fit my feet perfectly. I have a new pair of 10877's and they don't fit my feet as well. The upper is slightly big and the toe box is more narrow. These fit me just right, I got really lucky finding this pair. The sides of the vamp hugs my arch and offers nice support.
I love an 8" boot and the moc toe gives plenty of room to wiggle. Just heavy enough to offer protection and light enough not to weigh me down. Classic design, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Great, comfortable and grippy, not too heavy, perfect for what I do.
Kept me from falling off the metal roofs, happy with that.
The 8" mocs from Redwing are an iconic boot that I think could perform in a variety of situations. I had gotten my 10877's first, and I liked them so much when I saw this vintage pair, I had to have them. They fit even better than my new ones and have an even cooler patina. I'd love to be able to get them into the hands of a good cobbler when it's time for a resole. I don't trust my local guy.
