I've worn these to work in an office as well as construction sites that include hospitals, aerospace labs, historic building renovations, and greenfield sites. The only thing I've tried to avoid are water and mud.
There was no break in for these uppers. Even though the boot is fully lined they were incredibly soft from day one. I tried to keep them dry, so all I've done for care is brushing.
The fit is great. I like the feel of the arch and the EE toe box is just right for me. My heel stays secure and I'm comfortable all day long.
In my photos you can see some pretty bad finishing in the instep where the grinder got away from them. I sent pics to White's and asked them for a little of their edge oil to blend that out but they said they wouldn't send me anything, but I could return the boots for them to check out if I wanted. I was already wearing them for the dome so I declined. I'm very happy with the lace to toe pattern. You can see where I had to add toe plates because the edge of the sole broke at the stitch through on one boot, but it was more of a construction accident then a fault with the vibram sole.
I was pleasantly surprised at how soft and comfortable the V Bar sole is. I don't know how long it will last but I'm not seeing a lot of wear yet.
It feels good and has not let me down. The traction is fine.
I'm very happy with these boots, and I'd like to get more White's.
