The boot represents a Pacific Northwest logger design that has remained largely unchanged since its introduction. White's offers the 350 Cutter in both the traditional handsewn stitchdown construction at $750 and a newer machine stitchdown version called the C350 Cutter priced at $640. The design serves both work and casual wear applications, making it suitable for outdoorsmen and heritage footwear enthusiasts.

The 350 Cutter originated in the 1930s when Otto White redesigned traditional work boot uppers to create a more practical six-inch boot pattern. The design was specifically developed for timber cruisers who needed a lighter alternative to the heavier boots commonly worn by loggers and other outdoor workers of the era.

The boot's lace-to-toe construction was inspired by original logger boots that Otto White had developed in the 1920s. This design became popular among workmen because it allowed for greater accuracy in adjusting fit based on working conditions, foot swelling, or injury. The 350 Lace-to-Toe pattern has served as a favorite for tradesmen across the Pacific Northwest and beyond since the early 1900s.

After decades of producing only the handsewn version, White's introduced the C350 Cutter in Fall 2022 as part of their expansion into machine stitchdown construction. This represented the first time in the company's history that their most popular legacy models became available in a more affordable construction method while maintaining the same design and specifications.

The 350 Cutter utilizes handsewn stitchdown construction, a process passed down through generations of White's bootmakers since 1853. This construction method involves over 25 unique stages, each performed by hand, including hand-lasting, hand-welting, and hand-bottoming by master craftsmen.

The hand-welting process uses an awl and thread to stitch the vamp directly into the insole at three stitches per inch, creating a secure connection between the upper and sole. Hand-lasting provides a customized fit as the leather is stretched and secured around the last by hand, ensuring the boot provides support to every part of the wearer's foot.

The C350 Cutter variant uses machine stitchdown construction for more efficient production while maintaining rebuildable characteristics. Both construction types feature double-row rapid stitches that attach the Vibram outsoles to the leather midsole.

The 350 Cutter is built on White's 55 Arch-Ease last, which provides moderate arch support without the severe break-in period of the company's high-arch alternatives. The last features an elegantly rounded and roomier toe box with an accommodating forefoot, designed to fit a wide variety of feet in D and EE widths with a comfortable fit suitable for both work and casual wear.

The boot features a six-inch full-grain water-resistant leather upper paired with a leather midsole and shank for structural integrity. The Vibram 430 Mini-Lug sole and logger heel provide traction and durability for outdoor use. Available in sizes 7 through 13, the boots typically require sizing down half a size from the wearer's normal shoe size, or 1.5 sizes down from athletic shoe sizing.

Both the original handsewn model and the C350 Cutter maintain identical external specifications and last, differing primarily in construction method and price point.
