Perry 8" Select

The Perry 8" Select is distinguished from the standard Perry model by its use of a leather shank instead of composite materials and a leather heel counter rather than fiberboard. These upgrades align the Select model more closely with White's traditional premium boot construction methods while maintaining the accessible pricing of their lifestyle boot range.

The Perry 8" Select features Goodyear welt construction, which White's Boots describes as "the gold standard of boot construction." The process is machine stitched for precision and speed, but the company enhances this with thorough hand-bottoming performed by their master bootmakers. This combination provides what White's calls "the off-the-shelf readiness of a boot half their price and the comfort of a boot twice their price."

The boot incorporates a leather shank, a significant upgrade from the composite-material shank used in the original Perry model. This internal component aligns the Perry Select with the construction standards of White's higher-end boots. Additionally, the boot features a leather heel counter instead of the fiberboard counter found in the standard Perry, which White's states "will be more durable and mold quite well to the wearer's feet."

The sole system includes a Vibram midsole and the same Vibram Christy wedge sole used throughout the Perry line. The boot is built on White's 1972 Arch-Ease last with low arch support and features a cushioning Ortholite footbed. All Perry Select boots are embossed with the White's logo on the upper.

The Perry 8" Select is offered in multiple leather options sourced from Seidel Tannery. The primary offerings include five different Double Shot leather options, described as a "combination-tanned article that displays a significant degree of pull-up and will offer plenty of character as it wears in." The Double Shot leather is available in British Tan, Black, Brown, Burgundy, and Natural colorways.

An alternative leather option is Tobacco Stampede, characterized as an orange-brown oil-tan leather that "holds up well to the elements and can take quite a beating." This option is positioned as particularly suitable for heavy-duty work applications.

All leather options feature an 8" full-grain premium leather upper construction. The boot uses leather welting throughout the construction process, maintaining consistency with the upgraded internal components.

The Perry Select represents White's upgrade of their standard Perry moc-toe model with enhanced materials and construction components. While the original Perry uses composite-material shank construction, the Perry Select incorporates a leather shank similar to those found in White's premium boot lines.

The heel counter system also receives an upgrade, with the Perry Select using leather construction compared to the fiberboard counter in the standard Perry model. These internal component improvements are designed to increase durability and provide better foot conformity over time.

Both models maintain the same 1972 last construction and feature identical Vibram Christy wedge sole systems. The fundamental Goodyear welt construction process remains consistent between both lines, with the Select receiving additional hand-bottoming work from White's craftsmen.

Pricing reflects the upgraded components, with the 8" Perry Select retailing at $400 compared to lower pricing for the standard Perry line. The Select model also requires 14 to 16 weeks for made-to-order production.

The Perry 8" Select is available in sizes 7 through 13.5 and in both D and EE widths. White's recommends that "most customers are a half size down from their natural shoe size" when sizing for the Perry Select. The boot utilizes White's 1972 Arch-Ease last with low arch support, designed to provide comfort while maintaining the boot's work-oriented aesthetic.
