The leather was thicker and heavier than any other leather I had worn before and once received the color was more muted than I expected when I ordered them . The patina was slow to change and then it happened. I wore them several times in the snow and salt and they needed a serious cleaning and conditioning. I gave them a good scrub with Lexol and massaged in some Bick 4 conditioner. Over the next 2 weeks following the cleaning and conditioning the color began to pop. In the end I couldn't have been more surprised and more amazed by the color change. With the gum colored soles and natural edges they really needed to darken up to provide that contrast needed to make a sharp pair of boots and they didn't disappoint. Throughout the 6 months they were brushed every evening. They were cleaned with Lexol 3 times and conditioned with Bick 4 five times. The break in was pretty much painless and easier than expected after trying them on the first time. The boots were worn hard, 14 hours or more each day and they held up well...."Read the full review

I asked them what leather could take the abuse i see in my work as a land surveyor, and then could be easily brushed up to be presentable in the office.
This leather has been up to this task.
If I brush the cxl, most of the wear gets buffed out and if I add even light conditioner like bick 4, they return to a nearly new uniform look.
This brown cxl was of higher quality, thickness and durability than the brown cxl I had on my wesco jobmasters..."Read the full review

Quality adventure boots
BLKBRD Luchador Service Boot in Horween Natural ChromexcelBy fieldlaf • April 3, 2024"The overall break-in wasn’t bad, and the boots were comfortable to wear all day after a few days. I did have some heel slipping that lasted about a week until the heel cup conformed to my foot.
The Chromexcel leather recovers from scuffs in a magical way. I am really impressed how easy it is to shine with a quick brush, and I did that every few days. After 4 months and getting the boots quite wet a few times, I used leather conditioner once.
The color has developed nicely from a light peanut butter to a rich caramel that I look forward to watching through the years...."Read the full review
