They truly can be, and at least in my case, are now real hiking boots. 30+ miles a week for the last 2 months, holding up against my river adjacent, multi-terrain, trail blazing. Durability-wise, I am very impressed. I have much experience tearing through hiking boots, and these things put to shame some of the best cemented hikers on the market (I won't name names...)
