This was a "ready to ship" item and due to it being my size and a great blend between the vintage aesthetic and beautiful leather, it was a boot I didn't have to wait for. I will go frequently to try on boots from store to store to find one that fits only to hate the build or characteristics. This one just works for me.
I used my standard Nicks sizing, .5 smaller than and one size wider than Brannock.
Looked online for boots in stock at Nicks and got to try them on in store!
These boots saw many shifts at the café, yard work, hikes with the dogs, and moving house across the great state of Washington.
This is a very rugged leather that requiers almost no upkeep. There was a few weeks in mounth 2 where I was dealing with mold due to lack of breathability, but a Pete dryer solved that issue fast. This leather makes for great boots that dont need much upkeep at all. Very resistant to all manner of scratches and abrasion.
The hnw is a medium to low arch compaired to other lasts, slim over foot with room in the toes to splay. The slightly almond toe shape is attractive for sleeker boots when you dont have a structured toe. The lower heel on this last makes for a more modern take on boots. This last can accommodate an insole but its best to run it without when using medium or thick socks. I attempted to put a insulated insole in, but the fit didn't work for the forefoot foot and toe space.
If you know Nicks you know they do solid stuff. The only issue I noticed was a thread inside the shaft of the boot was loose, but it was under a part that was covered from the outside panel so there really isnt any issue. I did wish the straps were a little more snug over foot, at the shortest hole it is still loose over foot so that might need to add a hole for the straps now they are broken in. This modle did recive and updated pattern for the newer run, this pattern is no longer avalible from Nicks.
Slick on ice and flat concrete but otherwise great. Not for a hard work boot, but for a casual or heritage boot it will be perfectly fine.
Other than the yellow emblem falling off after 4 mounths, they have been great!
