I have been brushing it daily. I used bick 4 in it after 6 months, but I'm reconsidering that product. I have heard that the bick 4 does not do much actual conditioning. The shaft broke in nicely. Funky strapless wedged engineer
Nicks StationMaster in Seidel Brown Double ShotBy northsouthdenimguy • April 2, 2025"Surprisingly(to me) zero break-in or any sort of hotspots with this leather. My last experience with Nick’s engineers was the double stuffed natural. A completely different leather but I was expecting several days of breaking the boots in and being uncomfortable.
I’ve heard the double shot compared to Horween CXL but to me it’s completely different. DS is much more durable than the CXL, easier to brush out scratches, scuffs, abrasions. The oils really come to the surface with some brisk brushing.
I found that I had to use very little product on these boots and that brushing would bring back them back to life. That being said I did use Bick 4 several times, the environment that these boots were in gravel, gravel dust dirt, etc. on construction sites really can dry out the leather.
Overall, the patina of these boots to me is just the richness of the leather, some cool crocking and some burnished areas like the toe that really kind of stand out. I don’t know if it’s fortunately or unfortunately, but with a little bit of care these boots do not show any “abuse”… just a really great, durable and beautiful leather that can take the tough environment of construction sites...."Read the full review

Half of my wardrobe has bleach stians, but these boots dont show any signs of chemical damage. I love not haveing to baby this boot, its going to hold up to almost anything I have to do in them. A thick leather dose take time to break-in and you can see the toes starting to curl a bit. There is an extra bit of insurance doing construction in such a tough boots. I mean really they are absolute tanks, but it is not just the security and durability that has me enamored with these boots. It’s also been a treat to see the light tan color slowly become an almost burnt looking light brown. I think that’s why we’re all in this community right? To see the scuffs and beautiful patina come in as we go through our daily lives tackling work head on. I must say the first couple of weeks wearing them was a jarring and brutal break in period, (perhaps because this is my first pair of nicks) but as they’ve slowly broken in overtime I’ve reached that coveted point in the boots life where they’ve become an extension of my body. The leather has become softer and more supple to the touch and I must say I am not just satisfied but according to my girlfriend, “absolutely obsessed” with my nicks boots!..."Read the full review
