It was quite a dome. Lots of miles (trail hiking and pavement), and they are now my favorites.

Enough resistance that you knew you were wearing something substantial (in a very good way) but still moved with me basically from the beginning. I’m honestly a bit baffled by the color change. I thought/hoped they would more or less end up this color, but they are very light under the strap, which makes me think the color isn’t from conditioner (I conditioned under the strap same as everywhere else) but it also doesn’t make sense that it’s just rain and sun either because I mainly (not always) wore my pants over the shaft. There is a small color difference in the shaft and the rest of the boot and the texture of the shaft is different from friction, but the tops and bottoms of the uppers had different exposure and still look pretty similar. I did have to condition a few times (roughly every other month) and mainly used Bick but for the final shot I tried VSC instead. I think the VSC cleaned them better and add a hint more shine...."Read the full review

I have two pair of Maryam horsebutt from Peng and while they do feel like leather armor they have this soft nature that develops that I love. The smell continues to be incredible and the overdye black continues to look as black as night, just the way I like them!
I’ve brushed them every week to a beautiful shine, and only used Skidmore once when I first got them following a wise leather crafters advice on the discord. I can see these boots could potentially last for decades with proper care and become very good friends to my feet...."Read the full review

Handlasted this boot and ensured that footbed and soles has enough flexibility to create the rolls I want on the vamp. Chose the shell membrane part of a Maryam olive horserump leather on the vamp and quarters and used a thick oak tanned leather soles. In the first few days of wear, rolls became noticeable. Rolls deepen with every wear. My maintenance on this boot is just constant brushing, no shoe trees, I left them on the balcony overnight to let them dry, and to get some air. Over the period of 6 months color has changed from olive to almost like yellowish brown. Polished them twice with saphir amiral shine...."Read the full review

Viberg Service Boot BCT in Maryam Port 1071 HorsebuttBy timelesstough • April 6, 2024"These boots do not show wear! They have been with me through the MN winter, through snow, I wore them under the car while replacing my muffler. They would look beat up until I got home and brushed them down.
They've darkened a bit and the grain has become less prominent. Other than that, they still look similar to when they were first purchased.
I conditioners twice through the completion competition and brushed them a few times a month.

My care routine was simple, horse-hair brushed after wear and that’s it. I did use venetian cream at the start and end. I did wear kilties made from the same leather as the tongue.
