The recent very cold weather in Washington want great, but I didn't really feel like I needed insulation. Standing outside in 30degree weather for six hours wasn't entirely unpleasant. I wonder if the lace to toe double vamp helped with that.

Nicks Tactical in Nick's / Seidel WeatherShield Coyote RoughoutBy Dethios • September 1, 2025"The default HNW Thurman fits very well. The leather was the longest break in if any bit I had so far. I felt a nice arch support. The instep was pretty snug and adding a delta arch insole made the top of my foot hurt from the pressure on my instep. I had to sand down the bottom of the insole to get it comfortable and it still put pressure on my bunion and Taylor's bunion zones (no issue with the oak tanned insole that came with the boot). If I were to order again, I would size thurmanHNW one width up if I wanted to add delta Insoles.
One mistake during breaking was over tightening the laces. The inflexibility caused constant pain in my deep poreneal nerves for both feet. That issue was exacerbated by the trifold I used for the gusset which formed a crease/hard point near my ankle. Things I learned regarding this:
1. Side tucking gusset feels better on my ankles and I need to pay attention more when making initial folds for gusset if using tri fold
2. Best for me to skip the first hook, then use 2-1-3 lacing
3. I don't need to tighten the eyelets as much, the tightening at the shaft and ankle is more important for shoe stability..."Read the full review

Nicks x Rose Anvil ND1 in Horween Brown Waxed Flesh & Seidel 1964 Brown SmoothBy Call • April 3, 2026"These have been my daily drivers for just about everything life could throw at them. From working in the office and walking down city streets to DIY; I’ve been putting the ND1s through their paces.
Living in Scotland we have excessively wet weather especially during the winter, acidic peat bogs, and general muck. These boots have been champions through it all with no fuss, and only a handful of quick brushings to keep the dirt off.
They broke in quick, especially after a week when I took them rocket engine testing during a rather stormy week in the Scottish highlands. They also spent a few weeks glued to my feet doing DIY after we bought our first home...."Read the full review

Tough as nails, and can double as a hammer!

Literally been all over North America. From hard rock quarries of coastal British Columbia to the limestone quarries of coastal South Carolina; they've been everywhere, man.

The only time I had an issue was when a bit of mold showed up after 25 straight days of working in damp, rainy conditions. But even that cleared up easily just by giving them sun and fresh air.
