Style

After a poor experience with 2030 last year, I was left cold on Viberg. After seeing a new last and pattern, I was interested in trying something new and took a chance on the 1940 Navvy. I figured extra care/qc would be in play for a totally new boot.

How did you determine your size?

Community Advice

I previously tried the 2030 last at full size down. It was at least a full size to small. It was a little bit of a gamble since I disn’t really know what to expect with this last. I spent a lot a time observing sizing feedback for Viberg in general in the SDP discord.

Ordering was fine from viberg.com. Shipping was quite quick, but expensive.

Use & wear

Casual walking around city neighborhoods and a light local trail. Have upcoming international travel.

With a few weeks of daily wear, getting some nice creases. Right now, just a quick brush after wearing.

Satisfied with the Fit

Fit is pretty good for me. I did drop in a Nick’s leather insole to eat up some volume while they break in. I’ll likely remove in a couple more weeks. Very comfortable overall amd feels better each wear.

Clicking

I like the overall design and pattern. It’s top-notch all-around. I’m especially fond of the clicking, with the smoth vamp and grained quarters. The scalloped split welt is interesting.

Asthetically, Ridgeway isn’t my favorite, but on foot it’s been great and very comfortable. We’ll see how it handles snow in a couple months.

The rubber compound is a bit soft. I don’t really drag/scuff my heels much and they’ve worn fairly quick.

Final thoughts

Would Recommend

I think the 1940 last is great. I would love to see the Service Boot pattern on this last.
