I’ve worn these at at least a couple times a week throughout the last six months. They’ve been worn for everyday activities, casual office work, dog walks, and some international travel.
The boar leather is thick and fairly stiff with a unique pattern and look. It has broken in in the sense that it has molded to my foot; however, the leather has not softened up very much, even after conditioning with Saphir Renovateur. The conditioning darkened the leather a few shades and sped up the patina process.
The 55 last provides a lot of arch support, which has broken in and molded to my foot with wear. I am a 10 brannock between D and E width, and size wise, the 9.5D fits very well. The length feels just right and the the width is enough that my toes do not feel squeezed, without much extra room.
Design-wise, these look like casual work boots, but the lace to toe adds a somewhat unique look that works really well with the boar leather. Construction wise these are built like tanks. They feel substantial and extremely durable.
The wedge sole on these adds some softness that offsets the firm feel and strong arch support from the 55 last and thick layers of veg tan leather under foot. I have not had any issues with traction, although the tread on these is not very pronounced. Durability-wise, the sole has held up well—there is some visible wear on them, but no significant degradation of the foam.
These are stiff but comfortable casual work boots that feel like tanks. The boar leather is substantial very unique in its pattern. I wish the leather had softened up a bit more than it has so far, but overall I am very happy with these boots.
