They strike a perfect balance between a good, streamlined aesthetic with excellent durability. The stitching is very nice and the proportions of the boots are excellent. I also really like this leather / sole color combo and the 360 degree storm welt on these is very well done and a very nice touch. I’m also a big fan of plain toe boots now, so these look lovely to my eyes. They’ve also got 9 blind eyelets that make for a really clean look. However, it is new Viberg, and so there were one or two issues. The heel/back panel on the right boot was noticeably darker than the rest of the right boot / entire left boot, but this evened out a bit over time, and is now a loveable quirk. In addition, some might say that the loose grain / grain break is a construction issue, but I think ultimately it is a matter of personal preference. Comfort, pattern and craftsmanship were absolutely great. As with a lot of stitchdown construction the flared out uppers started to delaminate at spots from the midsole. Not in a structurally compromising way, just an aesthetic thing. Nothing a little strategic glue from you cobbler can’t fix. Clicking was solid. Looking down at the 2040 last is really nice as it looks very streamlined and well thought out. The double row stitching of the stitchdown construction is extremely tight and nice to look at. From the back, the heels look quite streamlined and elegant even though this is a hefty boot. This is also due to the 270 degree stitchdown construction.
