But it your plan is to wear these every day, soon enough you realize that the water (or other) spots eventually blend in and start to create a nice patina.
As far as wear, this leather is very robust and being roughout, very resistant to scratches. Beyond the darkening, there are no signs of damage to the leather...."Read the full review
Standing the test of time
Red Wing 8-Inch Classic Moc in S.B. Foot Oro-IginalBy Longshot • April 7, 2024"This leather is about as rugged as it comes. The break-in was great! It has formed to my feet and ankles very comfortably.
Care was very minimal. The leather was so waxy when I first got them and surprisingly the waxes held to the boot only until a month ago. I conditioned these boots with Smiths and I brushed them every few days or whenever they got covered in drywall dust.
The leather really started to shine about 4 months in, after my first conditioning. The red undertones began to take hold more, and the leather softened even further. Eventually, I did have to put Delta Arches in as there is no shank and the lack of support would lead to some fatigue on some days. The insoles fixed that...."Read the full review

Mostly just brushed and rotated with the other Dome pair.

They are extremely durable, breathable, and comfortable and didn’t require a lot of maintenance thought I cleaned and conditioned them every other month. In one week the leather went from very stiff to fairly soft. The second week also had some softening but not as much. During break in had a few hot spots near my heal which were not too bad and did not develop any blisters. The leather has become a richer shade of brown and now has a luster to it. I have tried to go with minimal care for these brushing when they looked dusty or had a lot of scuffs. I cleaned and conditioned once at about 4 months. I felt they seemed dry and extra dirty after getting exposed to some snow and rain. I started brushing a bit more often at 2-3 times a week after this. They did get one scratch on a hike when I stepped on some debris hidden under the snow. The boots breathe well especially if using the right sock for conditions. For my use case these boots are incredibly durable. I expect it will be quite a while before I need to do a resole...."Read the full review
